Hello I’m ------------ and I will be attending ---------- High School next year. I feel I should be accepted into 9th grade Honors English because I am dedicated, creative, self-disciplined and respectful. I always strive for the best in both my work and myself. English has always been my favorite subject, and I’ve always looked forward to my day when I have that class. I love how in English there are basically no rules. You get the ability to be yourself and write what you feel about and what you imagine. When everything else fails I always had/have writing to turn even if it is just a lousy diary entry, e-mail, birthday card or just a simple facebook status, it has always been a way for me to voice my feelings. I’m partial to how when you read a book and you just start getting lost in the book and imagining the characters in your version of how you see them. That’s why I believe books > movies because books give your imagination freedom, but movies have actors and when you see the movie your like “That’s nothing like I imagined!”
I’m willing to comply with directions and I’m always open to suggestions and creative criticism. I also am eager to participate in class, take part in group discussions/debates, and even teaching others. I always have a fresh new ideas or opinions on anything that I’m always willing to share. Also I enjoy speaking in front of others or a crowd.
Within the next year I would like to have improved on my speech writing skills and grammar. English is a necessity for everyday life and I know that! When I was little my family would encourage me to “Read! Read! Read!” Everywhere we went, dentists, supermarket, or the doctors I would look around and read what was in-sight.
I feel that I am a well-rounded person, who is always up for a challenge, and I’m cautious with deadlines and times limits. I review my choices that I have and always try to choose the smartest decision that will help me, not just only for a day, but for a lifetime. I don’t let others influence me because I know who I am and where I stand. Although studying and acing tests are not that “cool” to some people, that feeling you get when you’re told “Great work!” or “Awesome poem!” just makes me feel like I’m at the top of the world.
English has helped mold me to be the person I am today and I hope to pursue a career but most certainly with some writing on the side. Thank you for taking the time to read my essay and I hope you consider me for 9th grade English honors.
